Organisers say it's down to the weather and sales

It is with great sadness that Upbeat Festival 2012 has been cancelled at Upton Country Park. This decision has not been taken lightly. After months of hard work, and the festival all but ready to go, our hands have been forced by a combination of poor weather and difficult trading conditions.

The 'summer' of 2012 has already claimed its fair share of festival victims, and with our car parks already soft underfoot due to recent downfalls, and an unsettled weather forecast ahead, the decision has been taken to call off Upbeat at Upton. In the spirit of keeping live music alive, shows have been scheduled featuring some of the weekends acts at Mr Kyps, including the entire Monday lineup.

It was looking very much like our car parking areas and the entrance to the site would be churned up by the expected 1000+ vehicles and festival goers. In this situation we would have to use plan B, involving the hire of hard standing land near to the event. We also face the prospect of having to pay for damage caused to the grounds of Upton Country Park. With soft ground there is a high chance the event setup will tear up the lovely grounds of Upton, this would add a significant amount of extra costs to our budget, making the event financially unsustainable.

We at Upbeat Festival are of course gutted, having been looking forward to this for a long time and would like to say a special thanks to everyone who has been working hard behind the scenes to try to make this festival happen and to everyone who has purchased a ticket in advance.

But do not despair! Fleetwood Bac, JK as Robbie Williams and Rat Race will fill Friday -Sunday and the Monday acts including The Great Pretender will be at Mr Kyps across the Bank Holiday weekend. Tickets for Fleetwood Bac, JK as Robbie Williams and Rat Race will be £5, and Bank Holiday Monday featuring The Great Pretender, Bootleg Blondie, Souled Out and RU40 at only £15. Head over to www.mrkyps.net to buy tickets, but hurry as capacity is strictly limited!
