It happened on Wednesday evening.

A man's been attacked after getting off a train at St Denys.

The 31 year old was followed to the junction of Belmont Road and Westridge Road on Wednesday evening and was hit with a glass.

He was treated in hospital for lacerations to his head and face.

His attacker was wearing a distinctive green t-shirt. It’s believed he got on the train at Southsea.

There appears to have been no obvious reason why the man was attacked and officers are now asking for anyone who thinks they saw the assault at around 6.30pm or the man who carried it out to contact them. They are also interested in hearing from anyone who saw the victim after he was assaulted as he walked away from the scene at the time.

Anyone with information is asked to call Sergeant Stuart Baker at Bitterne CID on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 088 555 111.
