Reece James Menzies died from gun shot wounds in Boscombe
Detectives in Bournemouth investigating a murder in the Boscombe area of the town have issued an update, and are renewing their appeal for witnesses and anyone with information to come forward – with the victim being formally identified.
Following a report that a man had been seriously injured at an address at the junction of Roumelia Lane and Sea Road, officers and the ambulance service attended the scene at approximately 2.26am on Wednesday 25 July 2012.
The victim, 21-year-old Reece James Menzies from London, was declared dead at the scene. He had sustained a gun shot wound.
Detective Chief Inspector Kevin Connolly, of Dorset Police’s Major Crime Team, said: "I consider this a pre-meditated and targeted attack by a number of offenders and I would like to reassure the public that we are taking every step to identify and apprehend those responsible.
"This is a significant event and it is going to affect many people’s lives. My aim is to stop any action like this, prevent it occurring and anybody else being affected.
"The only way I can do this is for people to come forward and to help us with our enquiries.
"We know that people were in the area but I need to establish exactly what they were doing.
"Any information might be of significance and help our investigation.
"I am especially keen to speak with anyone who saw anything suspicious or unusual in the area of Roumelia Lane, Sea Road, Cecil Road and Windsor Road between midnight and 3am on Wednesday 25 July 2012."
A 22-year-old man was arrested in connection with this incident and has been released on bail pending further enquiries.
